After weighing his options over the last month, Biloxi's Chandler Myers has signed with Tennessee Tech.

Myers had received interest from Vanderbilt and several other schools, but the Indians senior said Thursday a recent visit to Tennessee Tech swayed his decision.

"The visit changed my perspective tremendously," Myers said via Twitter. "Vanderbilt wanted to redshirt me whereas Tennessee Tech wanted me to come in and contribute as an outside linebacker right away. Tennessee Tech is undergoing a $60 million stadium renovation and changing the culture of the program with a new coaching staff from Temple. It offers a great engineering program so it was the perfect fit for me."

New Biloxi coach Bobby Hall was hoping Myers would anchor his defense in 2015, but the 6-foot-3, 230-pound defensive end/linebacker was injured in the Shrimp Bowl opener against Long Beach and was lost for the season.

As a junior, Myers recorded 47 tackles, caused three fumbles, recovered four -- including one for a touchdown.

The Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles are a member of the FCS's Ohio Valley Conference. TTU is led by former Temple University offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield, 39, who was hired in January.
