Gulfport's Bruni, Riley of Biloxi are Sun Herald Players of the Week

Gulfport senior soccer star Jeff Bruni and Biloxi sophomore basketball standout Breanna Riley are the Sun Herald Players of the Week after leading their teams to victories.

Riley is the Girls Player of the Week after scoring 24 points in Biloxi's 47-46 upset victory over rival Gulfport Friday night.

Riley is Biloxi's top scorer, averaging 11.1 points and 3.9 rebounds for the Lady Indians (10-15).

Bruni is the Boys Player of the Week after leading the South with a pair of goals in the Mississippi Association of Coaches All-Star Game in Clinton Saturday.

After scoring both his team's goals in the 2-1 win, Bruni was named the game's offensive MVP.

Bruni signed with Northern Kentucky last week.

Jan. 12: Dillyn Neely (D'Iberville) and Savannah Jones (St. Martin).

Jan. 5: None selected.
