D'Iberville powerlifting claims 4-6A meet

D'Iberville's boys powerlifting team got its run to state off to a good start over the weekend by claiming the Region 4-6A meet.

The Warriors, ranked fifth nationally by PowerliftingHigh.com, won with 58 total points. Gulfport and Harrison Central placed second and third with 49 and 30 points. Ocean Springs and St. Martin scored 25 and 21 points respectively.

Cade Ross led his team with 1,555 points to earn the top lightweight title. Harrison Central's Jordon Beaton squatted an all-time state record 765 on his third attempt and was named the top heavyweight with 1,700 points.

Next up is South State, with the top three lifters from each of the 12 weight classes advancing.
