Biloxi's girls opened the Class 6A playoffs with a big 2-0 win at Pearl. Gabby Williams scored off of a cornerkick in the 35th minute and Cecilia Powell added to the lead on a breakaway in the 76th minute. With the win, Biloxi advances to host Ocean Springs on Saturday.
St. Patrick 9, Wesson 1: St. Patrick's boys cruised to a 9-0 win in the first round of the Class 1A/2A/3A playoffs on Tuesday. Eiland Stebly scored five goals and Tyler Musial chipped in a hat trick. Eric Million also scored. The Fighting Irish will play St. Andrew's on Saturday for a chance to play for South State.
Gulfport girls 7, Terry 0: Alexis Arnoult scored four goals in her first game back to lift Gulfport (12-2-3) to a Class 6A first-round win. Maureen Maher, Olivia Prescott and Madeline Wadsworth also scored. A.Z. Breaux picked up the shutout. The Lady Admirals will travel to Brandon for Round 2 on Saturday.
Resurrection 2, Franklin County 0: Two goals by Patrick Larsen ended up being the difference in Tuesday's Class 1A/2A/3A playoff matchup.
Stone County boys 1, West Jones 0: Jon Taylor scored Stone's lone goal on an assist from Mason Hunt to lift the Tomcats in the first round on Monday. Stone will face the winner of Brookhaven-Pascagoula on Saturday.
St. Stanislaus boys 10, Sumrall 0: Austin Miller scored three goals to lead the Rockachaws on Monday. Corbin Blanchard and Alex Koons provided two goals each while James Estrada, Mason Favre and West Zimmerman each provided one goal. SSC will travel to Northeast Jones at 5 p.m. Saturday.
West Lauderdale girls 12, Poplarville 1: The Lady Knights eliminated Poplarville from the playoffs Tuesday.
East Central 2, Northeast Lauderdale 1: Makaio Johnson opened East Central's scoring Tuesday and Cameron Hatch tallied the second goal to lift the Hornets. Jason Allen and Chandler Underwood assisted on the goals. With the win, East Central advances in the Class 4A playoffs to face Bay High.
Gulfport 1, Pearl 0: Gavin Taylor scored the Admirals' lone goal in the Class 6A playoff opener. GHS will host Ocean Springs in the second round Saturday.
Faith Academy girls 63, Harrison Central 57: Senior Adyn Strickland had 20 points and 18 rebounds in a losing effort for the Red Rebelettes (15-8). Chyna Allen added 16 points and Arie'anna Norwood had 13.
St. Patrick girls 54, Long Beach 37: Morgan McCrea's 18-point effort paced St. Patrick (14-6). Olivia Allen also scored 14 points. Nicole Brock led Long Beach with 19. St. Patrick returns to the court Friday at Perry Central.
East Central girls 46, Pass Christian 38: Sania Wells and Cayce Fulton scored 21 and 10 points respectively to lift ECHS. Ashanti Darensbourg scored eight to lead PCHS (10-14).
Biloxi 71, Moss Point 54: Breanna Riley netted 29 points in Biloxi's victory. She also recorded eight steals. Alexis McDaniel also scored 11 for Biloxi (7-13). Maya Harvey and LaMiracle Sims led Moss Point with 19 and 13 points respectively.
Pass Christian 73, East Central 40: Jaylen Peters led Pass Christian (17-5, 8-1) with 16 points. Each of Maliq Leaks, Raymond Obillo and Aaron Whavers scored 10 points apiece. Reed Gable scored 11 for ECHS.
Pascagoula 75, Hancock 58: Jacques Belford led Pascagoula (16-4) with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Noel Jones also scored 12 points. The Panthers travel to West Harrison on Friday.
Biloxi 75 at Moss Point 53: Jordan Lewis led the Indians in scoring with 19 points. Marques McGee and Martell Turner each scored 12 and 11 points for BHS. Marcus Brown and D.J. Williams led Moss Point with 15 and 11 points.
Pearl River Central 45, Stone 27: A.J. Banks lifted PRC (7-13) past Stone with 15 points. Donte Stephens scored 12 and Willie Reece added 10 points for the Blue Devils.
Heidelberg Academy girls 33, Christian Collegiate Academy 32: Madison Bishop scored 18 for CCA (14-8, 7-5) on Tuesday.
Christian Collegiate Academy 48, Heidelberg Academy 42: Devan Roberts lifted CCA (9-10, 6-6) to victory with 20 points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Wayne Academy boys 41, Christian Collegiate Academy 34: Devan Roberts had eight points and seven rebounds in a losing effort while Codie Hoffman-Hayes added nine points for the Bulldogs (8-10, 5-6) on Monday.
West Harrison 45, Gautier 25: Quieran Gray led the Hurricanes with 21 points.
