Prep Roundup: Gulfport girls edge Biloxi in penalty kicks
The Gulfport girls edged Biloxi, 4-2, on penalty kicks after the two teams battled to a scoreless tie through regulation and a pair of overtimes.
All four Gulfport girls stepped up and hit their penalty kicks with ease. Senior Megan Wadsworth provided the decisive goal, finding the left side of the net.
Also coming through on penalty kicks for Gulfport were junior Taylor Wallace, senior Maureen Maher and junior Olivia Prescott.
Biloxi (7-8-4, 2-3) barely missed a goal in the first overtime when a header by Quiava Lampley hit the right post off a corner kick from Sydney Cannette.
Gulfport's best chance at scoring came to start the second half when Maher's offering narrowly cleared the crossbar less than a minute into the second half.
Biloxi coach Teresa Martin said her team will travel to face Pearl on Tuesday in the first round of the playoffs while Gulfport is set to host Terry.
Gulfport finishes the regular season with a 14-2-3 and 6-0 mark to take the Region 8-6A title.
Ocean Springs girls 3, George County 0: Brandi Szegeti, Rylee Foster and Kelsay Himel each scored to lift OSHS to the Region 76A title. Karsen Gildea picked up the win.
Ocean Springs 3, George County 0: The Greyhounds swept the Rebels to claim the Region 7-6A crown. Sam Harvey, Allan Mayes and Mike Jimenez all scored for Ocean Springs.
St. Martin girls 5, D'Iberville 0: Madi Powell and Tara Bradley each scored twice. Bettie Shoemaker also scored for St. Martin (6-9-1, 2-4).
St. Stanislaus 3, Bay 2: The Rockachaws (18-2-1) clinched the Region 8-4A title on Tuesday with a close win over rival Bay. Austin Miller, Andrew Elkins and Dustin Bosch each scored for SSC, which hosts Sumrall to open the playoffs next week.
Poplarville girls 7, Sumrall 0: Candi Spiers and Mallory Nuccio each scored twice to lead the Lady Hornets' attack. Merisa Myrick, Amber Smith and Stormy Matthews all rounded out the scoring.
Poplarville 6, Sumrall 2: Nick Kirschbaum registered a hat trick for the Hornets. Derrick Houston, Austin Carter and Turan Smith also scored.
Our Lady Academy 2, Bay High 1: Paige Palazzo and Ashlyn Davis scored for OLA. Victoria Power earned the win.

St. Patrick girls 59, Seminary 14: Olivia Allen and Anna Clare Colson led St. Patrick (13-5, 3-2) with 22 and 17 points respectively. St. Patrick hosts Tylertown on Friday.
Bay High girls 73, East Central 40: Jamaya Galloway led Bay (14-6) past East Central with a 24-point performance. She also recorded seven rebounds and six assists. Dasha Barnes recorded a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Simone Jackson scored 12 points with eight rebounds. Aerion Dority rounded out Bay's leaders with 11 points and five assists. Bay travels to Moss Point on Friday.
Pass Christian girls 72, Moss Point 62: Netanya Wilkerson led the Lady Pirates (9-13, 3-2) with 21 points. Maliya Bullard and Melanie Ausmer each scored 12, while Ashanti Darensbourg scored 11. LaMiracle Sims led Moss Point (4-15, 2-2) with 17 points. Maya Harvey had 13, Celia Rodgers 11 and Dawn Harmon 11.
Vancleave girls 45, Our Lady Academy 16: Melanie Demoran led VHS with 15 points. Khadeejah Franklin also scored 10.
Christian Collegiate Academy 49, Wayne Academy 35: Codie Coffman-Hayes led CCA (7-8, 4-4) on Monday with 13 points and three assists. Devan Roberts scored 12 points with five rebounds and four assists. Lorenzo Neville scored nine points with eight rebounds and three assists.
Christian Collegiate Academy girls 39, Wayne Academy 29: Madison Bishop led CCA (10-8, 3-4) on Monday with 24 points and 16 rebounds.
Harrison Central girls 48, Hancock 23: Adyn Strickland led HCHS (15-7, 4-0) with 13 points. Arie'Anna Norwood scored 10.
Bay High 44, East Central 26: Conner Ladner led BHS (13-5, 4-3) with 14 points.
Pascagoula 46, Long Beach 30: Jacques Belford led the Panthers (14-4, 3-0) with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Illyan Scott scored 11 points with 11 rebounds and four blocked shots.
Gautier 33, Ocean Springs 28: Mike McWilliams lifted the Gators with an eight-point effort. GHS (8-11, 0-2) travels to Pascagoula on Friday.
West Harrison 46, D'Iberville 44: The Hurricanes (9-9) picked up a big win over No. 1 D'Iberville thanks to a 15-point effort from Gabriel Barber.
Hancock 73 Harrison Central 60: Justin Ladner, Colby Entriken and Aaron Feazelle each scored 13 for Hancock (13-8, 2-2). Sam Palode chipped in 10 points. Biscuit Floyd led HCHS with 17 points. Rajun Blackston and Dayquan Perkins scored 14 and 13 points respectively.
