Gulfport's McDaniel, Harrison Central's Floyd named Sun Herald Players of the Week
Biscuit Floyd scored in bunches and Aarmanii McDaniel got it done at both ends of the court last week.
For their efforts, the Harrison Central and Gulfport seniors were named the Sun Herald's Players of the Week.
The Gulfport girls topped Velma Jackson and Meridian in the Hattiesburg tournament before falling 49-47 to Hattiesburg in the title game.
McDaniel averaged 12 points in the Hattiesburg tournament for the Lady Admirals. She had 18 points and 18 rebounds in an impressive 62-59 win over Meridian in the semifinal.
Floyd had an impressive week for the Red Rebels.
Over the course of four games last week, the shifty senior scored 29 points against Gulfport, 20 against St. Martin, 18 versus county rival West Harrison and then capped with week with a 30-point performance against Pass Christian. Sixty-seven of Floyd's points came in Harrison Central's three Gulfport Hardwood Holiday Classic games. Floyd also averaged six assists on the 2-2 week for Harrison Central (8-9).
