Biloxi downs Pascagoula for third place at Gulfport Hardwood Holiday Classic

Marques McGee scored 25 points, Jordan Lewis added 21 as Biloxi beat Pascagoula for third place in the Gulfport Hardwood Holiday Classic on Wednesday at Bert Jenkins Gymnasium. Martell Turner added 12 for the Indians (10-5). Darius Johnson led the Panthers (10-4) with 11.

Harrison Central 68, West Harrison 55: Dayquan Perkins scored 26 points to lead the Red Rebels to a fifth-place victory in the Gulfport Hardwood Holiday Classic. Quieran Gray led the Hurricanes with 13.

Madison Central 59, St. Martin 55: Madison Central took seventh place at the Hardwood Holiday Classic as Michael Hammond had 20. Johnelius Anderson led the Yellow Jackets, who have lost three straight, with 15.

St. Patrick girls 43, Vancleave 34: Morgan McCrea scored 23 points to lead St. Patrick (9-3) to the victory Wednesday in Vancleave's tournament.

Tuesday's games

Gulfport 59, Pascagoula 58 (OT): Keevon Oney hit a pair of late baskets in overtime to help Gulfport advance Tuesday. Oney finished with a game high of 16 points to lead the Admirals (12-5).

Pascagoula led 51-38 with 6:34 remaining in regulation, but the Admirals responded with a 12-2 run to tie the game at 53-53 at the end of regulation.

"Hats off to Pascagoula. They had back to back nights of overtime," Gulfport coach Owen Miller said. "We're very fortunate. We were down 18-4 (in the first quarter) and just kept fighting."

Alton Conerly had 11 points for Gulfport and Raekwon Murphy added 10.

Pascagoula's frontcourt duo of Jacques Belford (12) and Illyan Scott (10) both scored in double digits for the Panthers (10-3).

"It was just a classic battle," Pascagoula coach Ronald Norman said. "Our kids responded well after a big win (Monday night over St. Martin). All credit to Gulfport. At home, we got them down double figures twice. Their kids just stepped up and made plays.
