PREP ROUNDUP: Bay High girls get upset victory, Kennedy earns win No. 500
Jamaya Galloway provided the late heroics to help lift the Bay High girls to a 60-57 upset win over No. 1 St. Martin on Monday at St. Martin.
With Bay High trailing by two points and 12 seconds left, Galloway dribbled the distance of the floor and hit a layup. She then stole the inbound pass and was fouled. She hit both free throws to finish off the victory for the Lady Tigers (8-5).
Galloway led Bay High with 22 points and Aerion Dority contributed 16 points. Simone Jackson led the way on the boards with 13 rebounds.
"I think we played much harder and just made some plays to win," Bay High coach Debbie Triplett said. "(Jones) got 32 points and we were able to overcome that to get the win."
Savannah Jones provided a game high of 32 points for St. Martin (13-2). Deona Morgan added 10 points.
Pass Christian 61, St. Stanislaus 48: Jaylen Peters scored 17 points to help Pass Christian pick up a 61-48 win at St. Stanislaus Monday night.
The win gave Pass Christian coach Buddy Kennedy the 500th victory of his career.
Pass Christian (7-4, 2-0) jumped out to a 39-20 lead and cruised to the victory in the second half.
Harrison Central rolls to win in New Orleans
Harrison Central 82, New Orleans MMA 45: Four different Harrison Central players scored in double digits as the Harrison Central boys won 82-45 at the New Orleans Military/Maritime Academy.
Biscuit Floyd led the way for Harrison Central (6-7) with 19 points. Rajun Blackston added 17 points, Dayquan Perkins had 16 and Dajon Whitworth contributed 12.
