St. Martin's St. Julian, St. Patrick's McRae named Sun Herald Players of the Week
Stacee St. Julian helped lead St. Martin to a strong run in an Orlando tournament and St. Patrick's Morgan McCrea had a big week of scoring the ball for St. Patrick.
That's why St. Julian is the Sun Herald Boys Player of the Week and McCrea earns the title of Girls Player of the Week.
Despite rolling his ankle in a 65-30 win over Gautier, St. Julian rebounded to help lead the Yellow Jackets (13-1) to a 2-1 run in an Orlando tournament.
He averaged 25 points during his time at the tournament, including a high of 38 in the tournament opener.
St. Martin lost 80-67 to Chartiers Valley (Pa.) in the Dec. 17 tournament opener. The Yellow Jackets rebounded the next two days to win 62-60 over Golden, Colo., and 76-54 over Southern from Louisville, Ky.
St. Julian is averaging 24.5 points and 6.8 rebounds this season.
St. Martin is the unanimous No. 1 for the second consecutive week in the Sun Herald Top 10.
McCrea averaged 26 points in St. Patrick's two wins last week. McCrea scored 22 points to lead St. Patrick to a 39-25 win over Resurrection and had 30 in a 59-27 win over Our Lady Academy.
McCrea is averaging 19.2 points a game for the Irish this season.
St. Patrick sits at 8-2 and is tied for No. 9 in this week's Sun Herald Top 10.
