Bay High's Simone Jackson signs with Delta State
Simone Jackson was a big reason Bay High made its run to the Class 4A state championship game a year ago.
The forward came on late during the season and became a key part of the Tigers' success. It was during that time that Jackson began to get noticed by recruiters.
Last week she signed with Delta State.
"She really stepped up when we made our run through the playoffs to get to the state tournament," Bay High coach Debbie Triplett said. "There were two or three games where she really stepped up and probably got on some people's lists."
Jackson averaged more than 12 points a game and seven rebounds as a junior. This year, she's averaging 13.8 points and six rebounds inside for Bay High.
"She should be fine. She's very athletic and she's a good post player with good size," Triplett said of the 6-foot-1 Jackson. "I think she should transition into the next level really well."
