Prep Roundup: Dority, Jackson lead Bay High girls past Pascagoula
Bay High girls 66, Pascagoula 40: Bay snapped Pascagoula's perfect start. Aerion Dority and Simone Jackson each had 24 points for Bay High (3-2). Jamaya Galloway had 10 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Victoria Hunter and Alexis McBeath led Pascagoula (4-1) with 16 and 12 points respectively.
D'Iberville girls 51, Purvis 26: Laniya Cronan led D'Iberville (2-1) with 14 points. Christy Cotton had 13 points and six steals. Casey Ferguson had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Hannah Cathcings led D'Iberville with 15 rebounds. D'Iberville returns to the court Friday to host Biloxi.
Gautier 59, St. Stanislaus 47: Mike McWilliams scored 29 points and pulled down 14 rebounds with two blocks for Gautier (1-2). D.J. Johnson also chipped in 11 points. Connor DelValle led SSC with 24 points.
Picayune girls 45, Long Beach 31: Picayune was led by Regene Bailey with nine points. LBHS' Allanah Turner had 13.
Pass Christian girls 35, Presbyterian Christian 29: Netanya Wilkerson led PCHS (3-2) with 12 points.
Pearl River Central girls 61, Poplarville 49: Claire Lumpkin had 16 points with six assists and six steals to lead PRC (3-1). Harlee Davis had 13 points and Brooklyn Howe had 12 in the winning effort. Poplarville was led by Zanaisha Turner's 28-point effort. Jasmine Merrill also scored 14 for Poplarville.
St. Martin girls 57, Murphy (Ala.) 45: Savannah Jones led St. Martin (5-0) with 22 points and 14 rebounds. Daphane White chipped in 10 points and nine rebounds.
Central Christian Academy (Ala.) 57, Christian Collegiate Aca. 50: Madison Bishop led CCA (0-1) in its opener with 25 points. Jill Peterman scored 23.
Bay High 49, Pascagoula 47: Chris Moody scored 16 to lead Bay High (2-0). Darius Wyman and Conner Ladner chipped in 13 and 10 points respectively.
Ocean Springs girls 46, Moss Point 36: Whitney Gibson, Delenshia Blackston each had 11 points for OSHS (2-1). LaMiracle Sims and Celia Rodgers had 11 for MPHS.
Ocean Springs 69, Moss Point 58 (OT): Charles Bateman led OSHS (1-2) with 21 points. Malcolm Magee scored 12 and Lance Wright had 10. Aristotle Rush led Moss Point (1-1) with 14.
Soccer
Ocean Springs 4, Biloxi 3: Max Wade led Ocean Springs (1-1) with two goals. Max Higginbotham and Steven Gallagher also scored for OSHS.
St. Stanislaus 2, Oak Grove 1: West Zimmerman and James Estrada tallied goals for the Rockachaws (5-0).
Hancock girls 4, Pearl River Central 0: Alyssa Palisi scored twice for Hancock (4-0), while Emily Stolz and Rebecca Jenkins also chipped in goals. Goalkeeper Taylor Lee made nine saves to earn the shutout.
Oak Grove girls 1, George County 0: Oak Grove scored off of a free kick with about a minute left to top GCHS (3-3). Skyler Steede made 14 saves for George County.
West Harrison girls 0, Pass Christian 0: The two sides played to a scoreless draw.
West Harrison 7, Pass Christian 2: Jesus Nunez and Taylor Davis both scored hat tricks for WHHS (4-0), while Jonathan Page rounded out the scoring. Caleb Counselman and Matthew Edwards scored for PCHS.
Biloxi 3, Pensacola 2: The Biloxi boys soccer team picked up a win on the road Monday night, 3-2, over Pensacola High School. Koray Easterling scored a pair of goals for Biloxi (3-2) and Marcus Kennedy added a goal of his own. Ramario Linton and Harrison Horn each had assists for Biloxi. Biloxi will play at Ocean Springs Tuesday night.
Gautier girls 5, D'Iberville 2: Emily Riley scored two goals as Gautier picked up a victory in its season opener Monday. Brendasha Garrett, Emily Gager and Jaslyn Gregory also scored goals for the Gators. Breanna Lambert worked in goal for Gautier.
Our Lady Academy 3, Biloxi 0: Elizabeth Elkins, Paige Palazzo and Laura Taylor -- on a penalty kick -- all tallied goals for OLA (4-1-1). Goalkeeper Katie Albright earned the shutout.
