Sun Herald Offensive Player of the Week: Moss Point RB Omni Wells
Moss Point junior Omni Wells ran 30 times for 383 yards and five touchdowns in the Tigers' 62-51 win at North Pike Friday night.
Moss Point will host St. Stanislaus at 7 p.m. Friday in the third round of the playoffs.
Wells had 180 yards rushing at halftime and easily cleared 300 yards thanks to two 65-yard runs in the second half.
Wells' final touchdown of the night gave Moss Point a 56-35 lead late in the fourth quarter.
Wells and senior Travis Marion have combined to put up big numbers on the ground for Moss Point (7-5) after senior running back Cal'terrius Anderson went down with a season-ending knee injury. Marion had 17 carries for 177 yards and three scores Friday.
Wells now has more than 1,000 yards rushing this season.
