Vancleave wins Girls' District VIII, 4A Cross Country meet

Vancleave captured the District VIII, 4A and Region 7-4A meet last weekend at George County High School. The Bulldogs won the Region 7-4A crown, but finished second in District VIII, 4A.

Lina May of Vancleave won the 4A crown, with a time of 19:36. Her time met the National Elite Silver Standard and was also the first to cross the finish line in 2A, 4A, 6A. Austin Gill of Vancleave finished 10th among 4A boys. East Central won the 4A Boys title.

In girls, Ramsey Wagner of St. Patrick took the 3A crown. Anastasia Thibodeaux of Long Beach won her fourth straight title in 5A. Konye Maldonado of OLA won the 2A Girls' title at 24:06. Gracie Ferguson of D'Iberville took the 6A title at 19:58.

West Harrison and Pearl River Central won the boys and girls District VIII, 5A. Ocean Springs took the District VIII, 6A boys and girls. St. Patrick swept boys and girls in District VIII, 3A.

OLA won the District VIII, 2A girls' crown.

On the boys side, Cameron Tingle of Gautier won the 5A title, while Eric Million of St. Patrick took the 3A crown. Chandler Underwood of East Central won the 4A title. Matthew Mestayer of Ocean Springs took the 6A crown.

The State Meet will be held Saturday and Monday at Mississippi College Choctaw Trails in Clinton.
