Gulfport crashes final AP poll at No. 7

State-wide Associated Press voters took note of Gulfport's 24-7 win over Ocean Springs on Friday, dropping the Greyhounds out of the Mississippi Top 10 and placing the Admirals, previously receiving votes, at No. 7. Pearl River Central, Ocean Springs, St. Martin and Resurrection each received consideration for the state-wide poll, picking up 11, six, four and one points respectively.

Gulfport also jumped into the Class 6A poll at No. 5, with St. Martin and Ocean Springs receiving seven and six points.

PRC stayed at No. 5 in Class 5A, while St. Stanislaus remained on the outside looking in with the final Class 4A poll. The Rockachaws received 19 points, 41 points behind fourth-place Greenwood.

RCS continued its dominance in Class 1A and remained in the top spot, receiving 10 first-place votes and 109 points total. The Eagles held the top spot in 1A for the duration of the season.
