Harrison Central's Kyjana Webber wins two events at State swimming meet

Harrison Central's Kyjana Webber won the 100 Freestyle and 50 Freestyle at the State swim meet on Saturday in Tupelo.

Tupelo and Madison Central won the Class II Boys and Girls state titles. St. Andrews and St. Joseph took the Class I boys and girls titles. Picayune and Ocean Springs finished fourth and fifth in class II girls. St. Patrick was fifth in Class I girls, sixth among Class I boys.

St. Patrick won the Class I Girls' 400 Free Relay: St. Patrick 4:01.09.

Three other Coast athletes took individual titles:

- Class I 100 Fly: Gary Carpenter, St. Patrick 57.64.

- Class I Girls 500 Free: Cait Chandler, Vancleave 5:32.55.

- Class II Girls 100 Back: Gabrielle Ivey, Ocean Springs, 1:00.71.

District VIIII Cross Country meet: West Harrison and Pearl River Central won the Boys and Girls' District VIII, 5A meet held Saturday hosted by George County High School in Lucedale. East Central won the 4A boys, while Pass Christian took 4A girls. Ocean Springs took 6A boys and girls. St. Patrick swept Boys and Girls in 3A.

On the Boys' side, Cameron Tingle of Gautier won the 5A 5,000 meter run title, while Eric Million of St. Patrick took the 3A crown. Chandler Underwood of East Central won the 4A title. Matthew Mestayer of Ocean Springs took the 6A crown.

For girls, Ramsey Wagner of St. Patrick took the 3A crown. Evelyn Kimble of Poplarville took the 4A title. Isabella Wheeler of Ocean Springs was the 6A honorees. Anastasia Thibodeaux of Long Beach won her fourth straight title in 5A.

All-state performers for Long Beach are Elijah Page, Chase Burkley, Michael Filibeck,Katie Osness, Addison House, Alexa Nanatovich and Thibodeaux.
