Sun Herald Defensive Player of the Week: Stone DB Nick Brown

Defensive back Nick Brown set the tone in Stone's 38-0 rout over Long Beach on Friday night at Lumpkin-Magee Stadium.

The junior intercepted three passes, as the Tomcats' defense forced six turnovers.

Brown's first interception resulted in a 38 yard return for a touchdown. The Pick-6 gave Stone a 6-0 lead and the Tomcats (4-6 overall, 2-4 in Region 4-5A) never looked back.

"I read the play and had watched film on them,'' Brown said of his Pick-6. "We played good tonight. I think this is the best game I've ever played.''

Brown had another pick at the goal line to stop Long Beach's third drive.

The 6-foot-2 Brown entered the Long Beach contest with only one interception. He now has four on the season.
