Prep Roundup: PRC pounds West Harrison, Resurrection stays perfect

Christian Roberts rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown as Pearl River Central routed West Harrison 41-0 on Friday night. Michael Tatman added 54 yards, but led the way with two touchdowns for the Blue Devils (7-1, 4-0 Region 4-5A). Quarterback Wyatt Davis threw a touchdown pass and recovered a fumble in the end zone for another score. Hunter Holifield also scored.

PRC entertains Pascagoula next Friday at Hendrix Stadium.

Poplarville 56, Sumrall 3: Austin Bolton scored three touchdowns and Tyler Griffin had two as the Hornets (5-3, 2-1 Region 7-4A) rolled past the Bobcats. Zach Rice and Tyson Holston also scored TDs for the Hornets. Poplarville led 21-0 after one quarter and 35-0 at halftime.

Christian Collegiate Academy 48, Briarfield Christian 6: Quarterback Devan Roberts ran for 274 yards and five touchdowns, passing for another 121 yards and a TD to lead the unbeaten Bulldogs (8-0). Blake Prince had 93 yards receiving and a TD.

Tylertown 49, St. Patrick 0: Tylertown never trailed Friday night. The Chiefs (7-1, 2-1) led 12-0 after the first quarter and 39-0 at halftime. Robert Starks led St. Patrick (0-9, 0-3) in the Region 8-3A contest with seven tackles.

Resurrection 31, Sacred Heart 0: Dillon Jolly ran 12 times for 111 yards and a 17-yard touchdown as the Eagles improved to 7-0 and 3-0 in 8-1A with a road win in Hattiesburg.

Patrick Watts and Justice Sharp also had touchdown runs Friday night.

Resurrection quarterback Blake Porter completed 5-of-9 passes for 91 yards and had a 34-yard touchdown toss to sophomore Patrick Roth.

The game was Resurrection's third consecutive shutout and fourth of the season.

Defensive end Renzell Johnson had 15 tackles, two sacks and a blocked field goal. The other defensive end, Paul Blackwell, had 12 tackles and two sacks.

Ocean Springs 49, George County 17: Senior defensive back Isaiah Toler had an interception return for a touchdown and blocked a punt and recovered it for another score as the No. 1 Greyhounds (7-1, 4-0) rolled to the win in Lucedale.

Matthew Pleasant had two rushing touchdowns while Trexton Coleman and Travis Pugh each added their own rushing scores for Ocean Springs. The lone passing touchdown of the game for Ocean Springs was a 19-yard toss from Drew Windham to Austin Williams.

George County quarterback LaRaymond Spivery was 14-of-20 for 128 yards with a touchdown and three interceptions. He also rushed 17 times for 62 yards and a score.

Khalil Burns led George County (4-4, 0-4) with 15 carries for 119 yards.

Gautier 33, Long Beach 13: With senior Josh Penton filling in at quarterback for the injured LeCharles Pringle, the Gators improved to 4-4 and 2-2 in Region 4-5A.

J.T. Triplett led the Gautier rushing attack with a pair of touchdowns.

Penton threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to DeAndre Torrey and also kicked a 20-yard field goal.

Junior Dominique Blankenship added a 22-yard interception return for a touchdown and the Gators received two points when Long Beach snapped the ball through the end zone on a failed punt attempt.

Long Beach's two scores came on touchdown receptions by Trevor Terry, one for 21 yards and another for 80. Mitch McCaleb threw the first scoring pass and Byron Walker hooked up with Terry on the 80-yard score.Long Beach is 1-8 and 0-4.

Moss Point 19, Pass Christian 0: Travis Marion ran for a pair of touchdowns as the Tigers picked up a shutout victory Friday night.

The game was tied at 0-0 at halftime. Moss Point led 7-0 after three quarters and put the game out of reach with a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns to improve to 4-4 and 1-2 in 8-4A.

Marion rushed 13 times for 108 yards and two touchdowns and Omni Wells had 17 carries for 130 yards and a score.

Pass Christian drops to 4-4 and 1-2.
