BAY ST. LOUIS -- For the 46th time, the Rockachaws of St. Stanislaus and the Bay High Tigers will meet in the "Battle for the Crab Trap." The Rockachaws will host the Tigers at 7 p.m. Friday. Both teams enter the game with 3-3 records.
"The name has been around since sometime in the 90s, "SSC athletics director Stace McRaney said. "It's like the game between LSU and Arkansas which they call the 'Golden Boot.' It's a big game for both schools."
McRaney said the rivalry between the schools has grown over the years, especially since Bay High joined Division 8-4A.
"This is now a huge division game," McRaney said. "It has always been a rivalry game because it's between crosstown schools. But it has become a bigger game since Bay High went to 4A. It's a heavily attended game. There were lots of people last year when Bay High hosted us and there will be a lot of people at Friday's game."
