Live updates as Ocean Springs, George County battle for softball state titles

One down, one to go.

With their championship dreams at stake following Game 1 losses, both Ocean Springs and George County rose off the mat to force winner-take-all Game 3s in their softball state championship series.

Ocean Springs, which fell to Hernando 10-4 on Wednesday, authored a 4-2 victory Thursday to tie the best-of-3 Class 7A state championship series at 1. Today’s title game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at the Southern Miss Softball Complex in Hattiesburg.

George County, looking to defend its Class 6A state title, followed the same path to today’s final. After dropping Game 1, 5-3, on Tuesday, the Rebels battled back with a 6-4 win in 8 innings on Thursday. Today’s title game will be played after the Ocean Springs-Hernando 7A final, with an expected start time of 4:45 p.m.
