Softball state championship scores, schedule: Coast teams fall in Game 1s
George County’s title defense campaign has made its way to Hattiesburg, as has Ocean Springs’ quest for history.
Both teams face a winner-take-all situation Friday after each forced a game three in their respective series with wins on Thursday.
Ocean Springs claimed its first South State championship with a sweep of Northwest Rankin. The Greyhounds have their own veteran squad with three different 40-hit batters and two-way ace Emma Franklin leading the way.
The Rebels are hoping to defend their 6A crown behind Addison Davis and a deeply experienced lineup.
All games will be played in Hattiesburg at the Southern Miss Softball Complex.

Class 7A: Ocean Springs vs Hernando
- Game 1: Hernando 10, Ocean Springs 4
- Game 2: Ocean Springs 4, Hernando 2
- Game 3: Hernando 9, Ocean Springs 7
Class 6A: George County vs South Panola
- Game 1: South Panola 5, George County 3
- Game 2: George County 6, South Panola 4 (8 inn.)
- Game 3: South Panola 8, George County 7 (8 inn.)
