Vote for the Mississippi Coast all-sports Athlete of the Week for May 4

It’s time to select the Mississippi Coast’s newest athlete of the week.

As always, you can nominate any athlete for an upcoming poll by sending their name, sport and stats from the seven days immediately preceding the day of the next poll to sports@sunherald.com. Do not send your vote via email as it will not be counted.

This week our nominees feature players from George County, Gulfport, Hancock, Ocean Springs, St. Martin and St. Patrick and.

This is not a scientific poll, and you can vote as many times as you’d like until voting ends at noon Monday, May 11.

This week’s nominees

Bradyn Havard, George County baseball: Havard set the school’s single-season strikeout record (125) with a 14-K performance in a complete game shutout against Hancock.

Eli Carter, Gulfport baseball: The freshman had two hits and drove in four runs in a series-clinching win over Oak Grove.

Lexie Dreher, Hancock softball: Dreher picked up two hits in a win against West Jones, one of which a home run to drive in four of her five RBIs.

Emma Franklin, Ocean Springs softball: Franklin pitched eight innings of one-run ball with eight strikeouts in second-round win versus St. Martin.

Brianne Sanders, St. Martin flag football: Sanders caught two second-half touchdown passes in the Jackets’ first-round playoff win against Pascagoula.

Peyton Parks, St. Patrick softball: Parks struck out eight batters and allow just a single unearned run in seven innings of a win over Pisgah. She also drove in a run on one base hit.
