Meet the Sun Herald All-South Mississippi Girls Basketball Team for 2025-26 season

The 2025-26 season showcased the usual impressive crop of talent across the Mississippi Coast.

Harrison Central made a quick return to prominence and are recognized for their rise with representatives for both Sun Herald Player of the Year and Coach of the Year.

Rising talents are beginning to shine before they takeover and one such future star earned the people’s Fan Choice Player of the Year.

Here’s the full All-South Mississippi Girls Basketball Team.

Sun Herald Player of the Year

Saniyah Murray, Harrison Central

In the last year, Murray has climbed recruiting rankings and landed high-level offers from the likes of Ole Miss and Auburn. She can add to her accolades with the Sun Herald Player of the Year after averaging 16.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and two steals with 1.2 blocks a game.

Murray was at her best when the competition rose. She had 23 points and 20 rebounds in a Final Four win and was later named MVP of the North-South All Star Game. The junior capped her year with an invite to Team USA’s mini camp.

Fan’s Choice Player of the Year

Trinity Magee, Moss Point

The freshman made waves with a breakout season, earning her the fan vote for Player of the Year. Magee scored 12.8 points a game with 4.3 rebounds added.

Magee led the Tigers to the second round of the playoffs during a 19-win season in which Moss Point won 14 of its last 17 games.

Coach of the Year

Sandra Rushing, Harrison Central

Rushing quickly returned the Red Rebelettes to contention in her second season with 27 wins and a spot in the 7A state championship game. The only in-state losses that didn’t come to Biloxi were West Harrison and Starkville in the state final.

Harrison Central had three different scorers average in double figures and two of them, Parklyn Floyd and Autumn Keeler, are only sophomores.

Sun Herald Starting 5

Zaniya Johnson, Biloxi: The five star forward scored 14.4 points per game with 7.6 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in helping lead her team to the Final Four.

Saniyah Murray, Harrison Central: Murray has established herself as a top prospect, nationally, with offers from Texas, Alabama, Arizona State and many more.

Starr Jackson, Ocean Springs: Jackson scored 15.1 points per game as a senior with 3.7 rebounds and 3.4 steals.

Taylor Henley, Our Lady Academy: Henley guided the Crescents to the school’s first title game appearance with a dominant stat line that saw her score 20.5 points a game with 16.1 rebounds to boot.

Laikyn Moore, Picayune: Moore’s junior campaign was her best yet. She averaged 15.8 points per game along with 8.8 rebounds, three assists and three steals.

All-South Mississippi Girls Basketball Team

Na’Kenya Terry, Biloxi: Terry was a two-way standout as the Indians’ point guard, scoring 8.5 points with 3.6 assists a game while also averaging 3.1 steals.

Jayla Carriere, Biloxi: Carriere scored 11.5 points a game on 67 made three-pointers for the Lady Indians.

Alayah Hoyett, Gulfport: Hoyett paced the Admirals with 8.9 points while also grabbing 7.8 rebounds a game.

Paityn Langley, Hancock: Langley led the Lady Hawks with 13 points and eight rebounds a game. She was named MVP of her region.

Jaleigh Garriga, Hancock: Garriga was an All-District select who scored six points a game and pulled down six rebounds per contest, as well.

Lexi Ladner, Hancock: Ladner was another All-Region choice after contributing with seven points scored a game.

Madalyn Hoda, Hancock: Hoda was one of the Coast’s top passers, recording five assists a game alongside her seven-point average.

Parklyn Floyd, Harrison Central: Floyd was among the Coast’s leading scorers with 15.6 a game. She also averaged 4.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.7 steals.

Autumn Keeler, Harrison Central: Keeler contributed with 11 points a game and 4.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists and two steals.

Trinity Magee, Moss Point: Magee had a standout freshman season where she poured in 12.8 points and hauled in 4.3 rebounds a game.

Kylenn Ward, St. Martin: The senior guard crossed the 1,000 career points milestone and is signed to continue playing at Jones College.

Alex Patino, St. Patrick: Patino led the Lady Irish as a junior with 20 points scored per game.

Sydnei Barber, West Harrison: Barber scored 14 points per game with six rebounds. She’s signed to play at Pearl River C.C.

Jazaya Craighead, West Harrison: Craighead scored 13 points a contest and led her team in rebounds with seven pulled down per game.

Michelle Jackson, West Harrison: Jackson contributed with nine points and was the leading passer on her team with four assists a game.
