St. Martin hosted an eight-team flag football jamboree Wednesday in preparation for the sport’s second season in Mississippi.
The reigning state champs invited East Central, George County, Picayune and Vancleave, all of which participated in the pilot season in 2025. Also competing were first-year teams Biloxi, Gautier and Pascagoula.
The latter three are a part of the expansion from 12 teams to 45 across the state.
“It’s really exciting to see it growing in Mississippi,” George County quarterback Lani McDoniel told the Sun Herald. “We’re exploring more about the sport, adding on to our plays and running new things.”
The flag football season officially kicks off Thursday, March 26.
