Sun Herald All-South Mississippi Volleyball Team spotlights biggest stars of 2025
The Mississippi Coast flourished on the volleyball court again, producing two state champions and three South State title winners.
Our Lady Academy won its 18th state title and Ocean Springs took its first-ever championship. George County joined the two as South State champions, the first ever for the Lady Rebels.
Here is the 2025 Sun Herald All-South Mississippi Volleyball Team.
Player of the Year
Myah Favre, Our Lady Academy
What’s one more for the Crescent star? Favre is the Sun Herald Player of the Year for the fourth year in a row after turning in her best season yet. The senior had the second-highest hit percentage nationwide at .593 and was third in the state in kills with 626.
Her career-high kills figure comes despite dramatically elevating her role as a facilitator. Favre created 633 kills across her 118 sets after producing just 11 assists in the three previous seasons combined.
Fan Vote Player of the Year
Nicole Miles, Biloxi
The four-year varsity veteran earned the choice of the people following her senior campaign. Miles led the Indians in kills and her .303 hit percentage was top-15 in the state. She helped lead Biloxi to a 20-win season after winning just 10 a year ago.
Miles earned over 40,000 ballots for a 43% share of the total vote. Hancock’s Laney Necaise finished second while East Central’s Lila Gerrie closely trailed in third.
Coach of the Year
Christina Daigle, Ocean Springs
The Greyhounds made it three trips to the doorstep of a state championship and Daigle’s team finally kicked that door down. Ocean Springs captured the school’s first-ever state title in the program’s third appearance in the final round and second under Daigle when it swept Madison Central in straight sets.
Ocean Springs won 40 games for the second time and finished the year as MaxPreps.com’s top-ranked team in the state. Daigle’s team produced five players with at least 100 kills and used that depth to win each of its last 15 games with only one set loss among them.
