Meet the All-South Mississippi Boys Basketball Team for the 2024-25 season
The 2024-25 season showcased exceptional talent across the Mississippi Coast, with standout seasons from both established stars and emerging talents leading to an exciting year.
Multiple players demonstrated their skills at an elite level, including Player of the Year Kelan Rich from Pascagoula, who brought the Panthers back to the Big House. From the sideline, it’s Brian Butler who takes home Coach of the Year for the sharp turnaround his team experienced.
Here’s the full 2024-25 All-South Mississippi team.
Sun Herald Player of the Year
Kelan Rich, Pascagoula
Rich was given the keys to the offense and helped guide the Panthers to a Final Four spot in Jackson. He led Pascagoula with 15.7 points and four assists per game and was named Second Team All-State.
Coach of the Year
Brian Butler, Gulfport
Butler took a sinking ship and won a district championship in year one. The Admirals more than tripled their win total from a year ago, improving from nine wins to 29. Gulfport swept Biloxi after going 0-3 against its district rival in 2024.
Fan Choice Player of the Year
Kelan Rich, Pascagoula
Rich has the vote of the people, as well, after his stellar season leading the Panthers. He garnered 55 percent of the vote, ahead of D’Iberville’s sharp-shooting Juan Santiago.
Sun Herald Starting Five
AJ Hopkins, East Central: The senior standout led the Coast in scoring with 20.4 points per game while adding 4.9 rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Kelan Rich, Pascagoula: The senior Pearl River C.C. signee averaged 15.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, and four assists with 2.8 steals per game.
Blake Nettles, Pascagoula: Nettles averaged 13.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.7 assists with 2.5 steals per game while earning First Team All-State honors.
Landon Hall, Pass Christian: Hall’s all-around play established him as one of the region’s elite players this season, averaging 19 points and six rebounds a game.
Morris Robertson, Gulfport: The junior forward led the resurgent Admirals with 13 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.
All-South Mississippi Boys Basketball Team
Anthony Robinson, Bay High: Robinson was a consistent force for the Tigers, averaging 15.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game as a junior.
Alan Ayala, Biloxi: Ayala led the Final Four-bound Indians with 10.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game as a sophomore.
Alejandro Montalvo, Biloxi: The senior guard averaged 9.6 points, 2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists with 1.3 steals per game.
Kentrell Beasley, Biloxi: Beasley provided 8.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 4.7 assists while adding three steals per game as a junior.
Jakelyn Edwards, Biloxi: Edwards contributed 6.9 points and 6.5 rebounds per game as a junior.
Gabe Collier, Christian Collegiate: The senior averaged 14.1 points, five rebounds with 2.1 assists and 2.3 steals per game.
Tahj Hill, Christian Collegiate: Hill put up impressive numbers with 16.9 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game as a junior.
Juan Santiago, D’Iberville: Santiago excelled in his senior season with 15 points, three rebounds and five assists while adding two steals a game.
Brody Howard, East Central: Howard contributed 12.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and two assists per game as a junior.
Travor Frost, Gulfport: The freshman burst onto the scene with 11 points, seven rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game.
Denzel Jackson, Gulfport: Jackson averaged seven points, three rebounds and four assists per game as a sophomore.
CJ Burnham, Gulfport: The senior added six points, five rebounds and one block per game for the Admirals.
Shaun Murray, Harrison Central: The career 1,000-point scorer averaged 12.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.6 steals with one block per game.
QueySean Taylor, Pascagoula: The forward contributed 9.2 points and 5.7 rebounds with 1.3 assists and 1.4 blocks per game for the Panthers.
Jonathan Jackson, Pass Christian: Jackson scored seven points a game and was a rim-protecting force, averaging four blocks per outing.
Kyran Laneaux, Pass Christian: The junior poured in 14 points with eight rebounds per game as a junior.
Jaxon Walker, St. Martin: The senior guard averaged 11.7 points, three rebounds and 4.3 assists with 2.2 steals per game while knocking down 51 three-pointers.
RJ Keys, St. Martin: Keys contributed 11.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists with 1.6 steals as a sophomore.
Jhase Jackson, Stone: The senior led the Tomcats with 15.1 points and averaged 2.7 rebounds, 1.6 assists and two steals per game.
Isaiah Scarbrough, Stone: Scarbrough put up 13 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.3 steals per game as a senior.
Kameron Bolden, West Harrison: Bolden averaged 9.6 points, 1.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.7 steals per game as a junior for the Hurricanes.
