Baseball and softball season is heading down the final stretch and flag football has hit its midseason break.
Players and teams around the Mississippi Coast are gearing up for playoff runs, leading to big moments on the field from some of the areas top talents.
Athletes are nominated this week from East Central, George County, Hancock, Harrison Central, Ocean Springs and St. Stanislaus. This is not a scientific poll, and you can vote as many times as you’d like until voting ends at noon Monday, April 21, at sunherald.com.

- Jaxon Cripps, East Central baseball: Cripps had five hits, a home run and six RBIs in a series sweep of Laurel.
- Delanie McNair, George County flag football: McNair scored via 40-yard touchdown run and 11-yard touchdown catch in an 18-12 win over McComb.
- Teegan DeWitt, Hancock softball: DeWitt pitched 14 innings over two wins against Long Beach, allowing one run and striking out 23 batters. She had five hits in the series with three doubles and a home run.
- Gabrielle Smith, Harrison Central softball: Smith pitched a seven strikeout one-hitter against D’Iberville and picked up six hits across three games with a double, triple and three RBIs.
- Taylor Farra, Ocean Springs softball: Farra launched two home runs and drove in six runs in a win over Gulfport. She would a solo home run in the second game against the Admirals.
- Jackson Orozco, St. Stanislaus baseball: The freshman pitched six scoreless innings with six strikeouts in a win over West Marion.
