Who will be the Mississippi Coast Athlete of the Week for March 10? Vote now in our poll
The Mississippi Coast softball and baseball seasons are closing in on the critical district portions of the schedule and the stars of the season are beginning to separate from the pack.
School hallways were empty, but the diamonds were packed during a busy Mardi Gras week on the Coast.
Athletes are nominated this week out of East Central, George County, Biloxi, Picayune, Vancleave and Harrison Central. This is not a scientific poll, and you can vote as many times as you’d like until voting ends at noon Monday, March 17, at sunherald.com.

- Aubrey Atchison, Biloxi softball: Atchison had a .667 batting average for the week with a .750 on base percentage. She scored seven runs and had three RBIs while leading the Indians to two wins.
- Breyona Tanner, East Central softball: Tanner totaled four hits, including two doubles and a home run, with seven RBIs and eight runs scored across four wins.
- Brooke Shannon, Harrison Central softball: Shannon pitched a shutout against Clarkdale, striking out 12 batters and allowing just three hits.
- Aryana Dixon, George County softball: The Lady Rebels’ lead-off batter recorded four hits, two doubles and five runs scored across three wins.
- Parker Helton, Picayune baseball: Helton picked up nine hits over three wins with two triples and a double. He scored seven times and drove in another two runs.
- Hunter Harper, Vancleave baseball: Harper threw six shutout innings with eight strikeouts to one walk in a win over Pascagoula.
