Playoff basketball has officially reached Jackson, and the heat on the diamond is starting to pick up, as we roll into another poll.
Mississippi Coast athletes are nominated this week from Biloxi, Harrison Central, Ocean Springs, Pascagoula and St. Martin. This is not a scientific poll, and you can vote as many times as you’d like until voting ends at noon Monday, March 3, at sunherald.com.
Get to know the nominees here:
- Kya Gammons, Biloxi softball: Gammons pitched a two-hit shutout against Pass Christian and struck out seven batters in the process. She also recorded a hit at the plate.
- Jaxson Moore, Harrison Central baseball: Moore pitched five scoreless innings, striking out nine batters allowing just four hits.
- K’Lee Gum, Ocean Springs softball: Gum picked up seven hits across three games, including two doubles and a triple. She drove in a pair of runs and scored five times.
- Kelan Rich, Pascagoula boys basketball: Rich scored 23 points to lead the Panthers over Terry and into the Final Four.
- Kylenn Ward, St. Martin girls basketball: Ward totaled 20 points for her Yellow Jackets in a quarterfinal loss to Northwest Rankin.
