MS Coast basketball region championships settled. Here are the champions, playoff schedule

The Mississippi high school basketball playoff field has been set following district championship games Friday night.

The Coast had 13 teams battling for a region title across four different classifications. See the full list of scores below, as well as the postseason seeding for each class.

Playoff games begin with girls games next Friday and boys games next Saturday in 5A through 7A, and Monday for girls and Tuesday for boys in 1A through 4A.

Region 4-7A

Boys

Gulfport 62, Biloxi 61: The two sides traded blow after blow for four quarters until thunderous dunks by Gulfport’s Travor Frost and Morris Robertson with three minutes remaining gave the Admirals the lead for good.

Five different Admirals scored in double figures, led by Frost’s 13 points. Biloxi’s Alejandro Montalvo led the Indians with 20 points. Gulfport is region champ just one season removed from an 8-20 record.

Girls

Biloxi 45, St. Martin 19: Biloxi’s revenge tour hit a key milestone when it ripped the district back from defending champion St. Martin with a resounding win.

The Indians used a 12-2 run in the first quarter to separate themselves and never let the Yellow Jackets back within striking distance. Aubrey Hill led with 16 points while region MVP Zaniya Johnson added 14.

Region 4-6A

Boys

Pascagoula 71, West Harrison 67: The Panthers are once again region champions after a tight win over the Hurricanes. Kelan Rich earned region MVP honors.

Girls

Hancock 45, West Harrison 30: Riley Bishop poured 18 points to propel the Hawks to their second consecutive region championship. Hancock’s Anslee James took home region MVP honors.

Region 8-4A

Boys

Pass Christian 52, Greene County 49: The Pirates laid claim to the region title in their first year under head coach Robin Sikes. It’s Pass Christian’s second district championship in a row. Landon Hall was named region MVP.

Girls

Moss Point 35, Greene County 26: The Tigers raced out to a 14-4 start and never looked back, completing their spotless run through the district just two years after a 5-26 season.

It’s the team’s first region championship since 2020 and came in a title game rematch against the defending champion Wildcats.

Region 8-3A

Boys

St. Stanislaus 53, St. Patrick 35: The Rock-a-Chaws are district champions for the first time since 2013. Max Baria scored 23 points with three blocks in the win and was named the region’s Defensive Player of the Year. Alex Gilliam earned MVP of the district.
