Who was the Mississippi Coast’s best high school football player in 2024? Vote now
It was another exciting high school football season on the Mississippi Coast and the talent shined from established stars to breakout athletes.
Now it’s time to vote for the Fan’s Choice Player of the Year.
Nominees for the Sun Herald’s fan vote for Player of the Year come from D’Iberville, Gautier, George County, Gulfport, Ocean Springs, Pascagoula, Pass Christian, Picayune, Poplarville and West Harrison.
The winner of the poll will be recognized in the All-South Mississippi Football Team.
You can vote as many times as you like until the poll closes on Friday, Dec. 20 at noon. The poll is not scientific, and you can vote again by simply refreshing the page.

- QB/DB Jordan Walley, D’Iberville: Walley enjoyed a breakout sophomore campaign on both sides of the ball. He threw for 657 yards and nine touchdowns on offense and recorded five interceptions with nine passes defensed on defense.
- QB Trey Irving, Gautier: The 5A Mr. Football winner led the Gators to their first-ever state title game appearance with over 4,000 total yards of offense produced and 44 total touchdowns responsible for.
- QB Deuce Knight, George County: The five star Auburn signee played in only nine games but still accounted for 2,234 passing yards, 493 rushing yards and 35 total touchdowns.
- LB Andre Peters, Gulfport: Peters was the center of the Admirals defense and was second on the Coast with 149 tackles. The junior added two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.
- EDGE Bryant Ausmer, Ocean Springs: Ausmer was the state’s top sack artist, bringing down the quarterback 23 times. The Southeastern Louisiana commit totaled 83 tackles with 41 coming for loss.
- QB Silas Corder, Pascagoula: The Southern Miss signee and the school’s all-time leading passer led the highest-scoring Panther offense since 1934 with 2,271 passing yards and 23 touchdowns.
- ATH Jacquez Alexander-Dedeaux, Pass Christian: Alexander-Dedeaux picked up 841 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns on offense and led the Pirates on defense with 86 tackles plus three forced fumbles and an interception.
- RB Darrell Smith, Picayune: The Louisiana signee led the state with 2,501 rushing yards and scored 28 touchdowns on the ground. Smith also threw two touchdown passes, caught a touchdown, returned a kick for a score and recorded 24 tackles on defense.
- LB Ayden Harmon, Poplarville: The linebacker helped guide Poplarville to a 4A state championship with 134 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, four sacks, four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.
- RB Jordan Stapleton, West Harrison: The junior set the program record for single season rushing with 2,003 yards and 23 touchdowns while averaging a Coast-best 200.3 rushing yards per game.
