Sun Herald All-South Mississippi Volleyball Team features the biggest stars of 2024 season

It was a successful season on the Mississippi Coast as four teams took home South State titles this year and another brought home a state championship.

Our Lady Academy won its 17th state title while Ocean Springs, Hancock and East Central all placed runner-ups in state playoffs.

Here is the 2024 Sun Herald All-South Mississippi Volleyball Team.

Player of the Year

Myah Favre, Our Lady Academy

Make it a three-peat for the junior. Favre takes home Sun Herald Player of the Year for the third year in a row after leading the Crescents to their third consecutive title. Favre earned 3A Miss Volleyball honors following a career-high and Coast-leading 547 kills. Favre also led the nation in hit percentage, according to MaxPreps.com.

Fan Vote Player of the Year

Emma Bunn, West Harrison

Bunn enjoyed a breakout sophomore season where she led her team in numerous stat categories, including kills, aces, hit percentage and receptions while helping guide the Hurricanes to a second-round playoff trip. Bunn was also named to her region’s All-Academic team.

Coach of the Year

Emily Myers Corley, Our Lady Academy

Corley joins Favre as a three-peat honor winner for leading the Crescents to their 17th state championship and Corley’s third in her three years as head coach. Our Lady was a dominate 41-4 this year and have won 83 matches over the last two seasons.

All-South Mississippi Volleyball

  • Adelia Goff, East Central: Goff was named a Mississippi Association of Coaches All Star and helped lead her Hornets to the 5A state championship.
  • Aryana Dixon, George County: Dixon helped guide her Rebels to the South State championship and earned MAC All Star honors for her efforts.
  • Izzi Barnes, Gulfport: The senior’s career-high 433 kills, 42 aces and state-leading 183 blocks earned her 7A Miss Volleyball honors.
  • Lily Trosclair, Gulfport: Trosclair picked up 977 assists, averaging 9.3 assists per set. She also had 200 digs and 61 blocks.
  • Sahara Cooper, Gulfport: Cooper tied her teammate Barnes for the state lead in blocks with 183.
  • Cambria Necaise, Hancock: The three-sport athlete led the 6A South State champs with 328 digs, added 52 assists and recorded 33 serving aces.
  • Laney Necaise, Hancock: The junior had 156 digs and 130 kills with 21 aces and 14 blocks as an outside hitter.
  • Lila Turner, Hancock: Turner led the Hawks with 165 assists while adding 122 kills, 90 digs and 28 aces.
  • Alyvia Gaughf, Harrison Central: The senior was selected as a MAC All Star after leading the Red Rebels to their first playoff appearance since 2015.
  • Lilly Rutland, Ocean Springs: Rutland the Greyhounds with 349 kills and in aces with 85. The junior was versatile, finishing second on the team in digs with 241.
  • Mary Carlton Descher, Ocean Springs: Descher recorded 341 kills, 43 aces and 232 digs for the Greyhounds.
  • Anna Hoffmayer, Ocean Springs: The junior led her team with her .416 hit percentage on 289 kills.
  • Lucy Pepper, Ocean Springs: Pepper picked up a team-high 591 assists and contributed with 59 serving aces and 228 digs.
  • Taylor Henley, Our Lady Academy: The freshman was second on the team behind Favre with 396 kills and 67 aces and led in blocks with 82.
  • Ava Davis, Our Lady Academy: Davis led the state with 1,376 assists, averaging 11.9 assists per set.
  • Kinsley Stegall, Our Lady Academy: The senior libero led the Coast with 500 digs and her team in receptions with 368.
  • Ava Drake, Vancleave: Drake led the Bulldogs with 389 assists and 60 serving aces. Drake is committed to East Central Community College.
