Who was the Coast’s best girls basketball player during the 2023-24 season? Vote now

High school basketball in South Mississippi produced another strong lot of highly talented girl’s athletes. Here’s your chance to vote for the best of the bunch.

Candidates for the Fan Vote Player of the Year come from Biloxi, Harrison Central, St. Martin, Bay High, Christian Collegiate, D’Iberville, St. Patrick, Pascagoula, Hancock and West Harrison.

The Fan Vote winner of the poll will be recognized along with the rest of the Sun Herald All-South Mississippi Team when it is published.

You have until noon on Thursday, April 3 to vote in the poll and you can vote as much as you like.

  • Zaniya Johnson, Biloxi: The freshman averaged a double-double with 17.6 points scored and 11.1 rebounds hauled in per game, along with 4.2 blocks.
  • Brooklyn Cuevas, Hancock: Cuevas is a William Carey signee who scored 17 points and grabbed five rebounds per game to go along with three steals.
  • Brooklyn Mitchell, St. Patrick: Mitchell led the Coast in scoring with a 24.8 points per game clip while averaging 5.2 rebounds, 4.7 steals and 3.6 assists a night.
  • Kaleah Lowery, St. Martin: Lowery led the Yellow Jackets to the Final Four behind 15.3 points, 8.1 rebounds, 5.3 steals and 4.9 assists per game.
  • Sydnei Barber, West Harrison: Barber averaged 14.5 points per game for the Hurricanes while also pulling in 3.6 rebounds and 1.8 steals.
  • Nakeria Coleman, Bay High: The Southwest Mississippi signee averaged 11.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game for the Tigers.
  • Amiyah Simpkins, D’Iberville: Simpkins is a Hinds signee who scored 12.2 points and grabbed 5.4 rebounds per game.
  • Natalie Davis, Christian Collegiate: The All-District select scored 13 points and hauled in six rebounds per game.
  • Anaisha Carriere, Harrison Central: The Mississippi State commit averaged 12 points and five rebounds a night for the Red Rebelettes.
  • Massyah Thomas, Pascagoula: Thomas poured in 12 points and contributed with four rebounds and two assists per game.
