Who was the best girls athlete on the MS Coast for the week of December 25? Vote now

The Sun Herald’s girls Athlete of the Week poll is back with athletes who shined heading into the holiday weekend.

Through at least the end of the calendar year, the Sun Herald will be running a separate Athlete of the Week poll to highlight the many girls dominating their sports around the region.

Athletes this week are from D’Iberville, Biloxi, West Harrison and St. Martin.

This is not a scientific poll, and you can vote as many times as you’d like until voting ends at 5 p.m. on Jan. 1, at sunherald.com.

If you would like to nominate a candidate for next week’s poll, send in game or match stats to swatkins@sunherald.com. Stats must be from an event that occurs this week.

Get to know the nominees here:

  • Sydnei Barber, West Harrison basketball: Barber had 26 points, six steals and five assists in a win over George County and followed that up with a 20-point game with five rebounds against Gautier.
  • Kaleah Lowery, St. Martin basketball: Lowery dropped a 30-ball in a win over Newman and scored 18 against Fairhope.
  • Zaniya Johnson, Biloxi basketball: Johnson scored 24 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked five shots in a win over Blount.
  • Cailin Guthrie, D’Iberville soccer: Guthrie scored two goals for the Warriors in a win against Bay High.
