Our Lady Academy defeated Alcorn Central in four sets to earn 3A volleyball state title
Make it two in a row for coach Emily Corley.
The Our Lady Academy Crescents captured their second consecutive 3A state championship on Friday night under a fitting crescent moon. It was the 16th overall title for the storied program.
The Crescents faced Alcorn Central for the second straight year and dispatched the Bears in four sets. Our Lady nabbed the first set, 25-13, before dropping the second. The Crescents won the last two sets, 25-20 and 25-15.
“The girls worked really hard,” Corley, now in her fourth season, told the Sun Herald. “I’m very proud of them.”
Setter Ava Davis was named the match MVP. “She was outstanding,” Corley said. Myah Favre also had a “dominant” outing, according to Corley.
Hancock and East Central also represented the Coast in Oxford, both finishing as state runner-ups.
