Dillon Alfred leaving Gautier to continue high school career at Saraland
Former Gautier wide receiver Dillon Alfred has announced his intent to attend Saraland High School in Mobile, Alabama, this year.
The class of 2025 prospect is coming off a blistering sophomore season that ultimately netted him a slew of SEC and other Power Five offers.
Alfred caught 57 passes for 1,196 yards and 15 touchdowns for the Gators a year ago and helped lead GHS to its first 10-win season since 1999.
The emergence of the 5-foot-10 rising junior led to scholarship offers pouring in from Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas A&M and several others.
The Gators were already rebuilding its pass attack with the graduation of Ole Miss baseball signee Kaden Irving and leading receiver AJ Phillips and will now need to adapt even further.
Senior Kelvin Beavers will be GHS’ leading returning target after nabbing 63 receptions and seven scores last season.
Alfred will be joining a Saraland squad that is led at quarterback by Texas commit KJ Lacey. The four star prospect led the Spartans to the 6A state title in 2022.
Saraland is coached by former Southern Miss quarterback Jeff Kelly.
