Which high school has the most unique mascot on the Mississippi Coast? Vote now!
South Mississippi is home to about two dozen high schools and their athletic departments all serve as veritable front porches in their communities.
Some have long used that as an opportunity to stand out on the Coast and within the state with mascots that aren’t of the typical variety.
We narrowed down the list to 11 of the more unique names in the area and listed them here. Some draw inspiration or share names with college programs while others are truly one-of-a-kind.
But we’ll leave the honor for most unique up for you to decide. This is not a scientific poll and you can vote as many times as you like.
Voting ends Monday, July 3 at noon. Here are the 10 high schools with the most unique nicknames on the Coast.
- Picayune Maroon Tide
- Gulfport Admirals
- Ocean Springs Greyhounds
- Long Beach Bearcats
- Pass Christian Pirates
- St. Stanislaus Rock-a-Chaws
- West Harrison Hurricanes
- Our Lady Crescents
