Who was the top Mississippi Coast boy’s athlete of the 2022-23 school year? Vote now.

With the academic year winding down for (most) schools in South Mississippi, it also means the end of another year of a competitive sports season.

From Friday night lights to the hardwood sports involving nets, and from the frosty soccer fields to the sunny diamonds, we’re going to honor the Coast’s top athletes of the school year.

The winner will be honored on Sun Herald social media along with the winner of the girl’s poll. Also, be sure to check out the All-South Mississippi Softball Team and be on the lookout for the baseball team coming soon!

This is not a scientific poll, you can vote as often as you like by simply refreshing the page. Voting closes on June 27 at noon.

Here are the nominees for boy’s athlete of the year:

  • TJ Dunsford, East Central baseball: The 5A Mr. Baseball winner slashed .413/.555/.596 while also putting together a 1.30 ERA from the mound with 116 strikeouts. Dunsford led the Hornets to another state title.
