The 2022-23 season produced a pair of Final Four teams in Biloxi and Harrison Central and a host of next-level stars showcasing their talents, as well as some rising names to watch.

The top honors this year go to the Lady Indians, who were guided by one of the top players in program history and a coach who navigated a trying season to get his girls to Jackson.

Here is the full All-South Mississippi girl’s basketball team:

Coach of the Year

Devin Hill, Biloxi

A season after being the odd team out of a brutally difficult district, Hill guided his Lady Indians to a district championship with wins over Hancock and Harrison Central in the region tournament.

Biloxi then won its first playoff game since 2019 and reached the Final Four in Jackson for the first time since 2017 despite injuries at the guard position.

Player of the Year

Shaneal Corpuz, Biloxi

Corpuz was the central reason for Biloxi’s success and wrapped up an illustrious career with a senior season that saw her score 20.5 points per game and haul in 9.3 rebounds a contest.

The William Carey signee created a lasting impact with her help in developing an eighth grader and fast-rising talent in Zaniyah Johnson.

FANS’ CHOICE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Brooklyn Mitchell, St. Patrick

Mitchell is currently enjoying a pretty successful month. Shortly after helping secure her Lady Irish softball team a district title, Mitchell was named the Fan’s Choice Player of the Year by voters.

One of the top scorers on the Coast this year, Mitchell earned over 16,000 votes to claim the honor. Bay High’s Kiara Burney finished second in the voting with over 10,700 votes.
