High school basketball in South Mississippi once again featured some of the top talent in the state.
Here’s a chance for fans to select a Player of the Year for the 2022-23 campaign with candidates coming from St. Patrick, Biloxi, Harrison Central, Picayune, Pascagoula, Moss Point, Christian Collegiate, Bay High and Ocean Springs.
The Fan Vote winner of the poll will be recognized with the rest of the Sun Herald All-South Mississippi Team when published.
You have until noon on Thursday, April 20 to vote in the poll, and you can vote as many times as you’d like at sunherald.com.
Get to know the nominees:
- Kedrick Osby, Moss Point: Osby was one of the top scorers on the Coast and averaged a double-double, scoring 22.7 points per game and grabbing 10.1 rebounds.
- Ryan Roth, St. Patrick: Roth took advantage of a larger role, pouring in 22.3 points per game, plus five rebounds and four assists per contest.
- Duran Parish, Biloxi: The Vanderbilt football signee was a Dandy Dozen member and helped lead the Indians to the Final Four.
- Dorian McMillian, Pascagoula: McMillian scored 15.9 points per game, pulled down 4.2 rebounds a game, dished out 2.1 assists and recorded 2.1 steal a night.
- Troy Carter, Picayune: Carter helped carry the Maroon Tide to the state championship game and was his district’s Offensive MVP. Carter averaged 14.8 points per game.
- Hans Jackson, Christian Collegiate: Jackson averaged a double-double with 16.3 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.
- Aujaylen Barron, Harrison Central: Barron enjoyed a breakout season, scoring at a 14.3 points-per-game clip.
- Avan Wilson, Bay High: Wilson filled up the stat sheet with 16.1 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.
- Ghabe Colding, St. Martin: Colding led the Yellow Jackets with 12.8 points per game and 2.7 rebounds per contest.
- Elijah Isom, Ocean Springs: The junior averaged 16.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game for the Greyhounds.
