It’s time to vote for Sun Herald’s MS Coast Athlete of the Week for March 13

The final week of winter features a poll that gets us ready for the spring.

Baseball and softball take control of center stage in South Mississippi as the action on the diamonds continue to heat up.

This is not a scientific poll, and you can vote as many times as you’d like until voting ends at noon on Monday, March 20, at www.sunherald.com.

Get to know the Sun Herald Athlete of the Week nominees here:

  • Caroline Woodward, Gulfport softball: Woodward went 3-3 with a triple against Ocean Springs and had an on-base percentage of .714 with two stolen bases during the week.
  • Kaleb Raston, Moss Point baseball: Raston had two hits, one of which a grand slam, against Williamson while also striking out five batters in three innings pitched.
  • TJ Dunsford, East Central baseball: Dunsford pitched a complete game shutout against Long Beach, striking out 14 and allowing just four base runners.
  • Brooklyn Rhodes, Vancleave softball: Rhodes threw 14 innings between complete games against Biloxi and Pass Christian, allowing three earned runs and striking out 14 batters en route to two wins. Rhodes also hit a triple during the week.
  • Chesley Rhodes, St. Stanislaus baseball: The junior went four-for-four at the plate against Picayune with a home run and two RBIs. Rhodes reached base six times during the week and scored four times.
