Who was the MS Coast’s best girls soccer player during the 2022-23 season? Vote now!

Some of the state’s best soccer talent remains right here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and we need your help picking the best high school girls player during the 2022-23 season.

Voting is now open for the Sun Herald’ girls soccer player of the year — fan vote.

The fan’s choice winner for Player of the Year will be first recognized along with the rest of the All-South Mississippi Team when it is published.

Voting has been extended, and you have until Friday at noon to get your votes in!

Here are the nominees:

  • Alli Shemper, Biloxi: A four-year starter and captain, Shemper is a top defensive midfielder and Pearl River CC signee. She scored three goals and four assists and is a Coast All Star.
  • Abigail Badurak, Gulfport: Badurak is a Southern Miss commit who scored 39 goals and had 18 assists in her senior season.
  • Mary Grace Batson, Stone: Batson scored a career-high 23 goals and seven assists in her junior season for the Lady Tomcats.
  • Anna Katherine Thriffiley, St. Patrick: The sophomore scored 25 goals and assisted on four for the Lady Irish. Thriffiley was selected to play in the Coast All Star game.

  • Avery Saulter, Pass Christian: Saulter scored 21 goals for her Pirates as a senior and had five assists, as well. Saulter is also a Coast All Star.

  • Chloe Ezell, Ocean Springs: The senior PRCC signee scored 16 goals and have five assists as a captain for the Greyhounds.

  • Bella Reynolds, Pascagoula: Reynolds scored 16 goals and had seven assists, being responsible for 23 of the Panthers’ 27 goals this season. Reynolds played in the Coast All Star Game.

  • Beautyful Humphrey, George County: The two-time district defensive player of the year and goalkeeper had 47 saves this season. Humphrey is committed to Hinds CC and was named to the Coast All Star game.

  • Abbie Hancock, West Harrison: Hancock scored 13 goals and had nine assists. The junior scored the game-winning goal in two playoff games and was a Coast All Star.

  • Jennifer Lopez, Gautier: Lopez scored 22 goals for the Gators and assisted on three more. She represented Gautier in the Coast All Star Game.
