It is time for another South Mississippi Athlete of the week poll!
Congratulations to West Harrison girl’s basketball star Taylor Hopgood for winning our Dec. 12 vote!
This week we have athletes from Biloxi, St. Martin, Harrison Central, Hancock and George County.
This is not a scientific poll, and you can vote as many times as you’d like until voting ends at noon on Monday, Dec. 26, at www.sunherald.com. You can also vote for the top cheer squad of the season here.

- Shaneal Corpuz, Biloxi girl’s basketball: Corpuz averaged 23.5 points and 11 rebounds per game over two contests against Saltillo and Tupelo.
- Gabe Colding, St. Martin boy’s basketball: The senior scored 17 points and grabbed three steals in the Yellow Jackets’ win over Vancleave.
- Aujaylen Barron, Harrison Central boy’s basketball: Barron scored 17 points, dished out four assists and had three steals in the win over Port Gibson.
- Finn Cowan, Hancock boy’s soccer: Cowan scored a goal and assisted on another in the Hawks’ win over D’Iberville.
- Gracie Machini, George County girl’s soccer: Machini found the back of the net three times over the week in games against East Central and St. Patrick.
