It’s time to vote for Sun Herald’s MS Coast Athlete of the Week for August 29
High school football officially kicked off on Friday night and football standouts shined across the Gulf Coast.
Now is your chance to vote on which star will be named the athlete of the week.
We have stars from Pascagoula, Ocean Springs, St. Martin, Resurrection, Pass Christian, Vancleave and D’Iberville.
This is not a scientific poll, and you can vote as many times as you’d like until voting ends at noon on Friday, September 2, at www.sunherald.com.
Get to know the nominees here:
- Noreel White, St. Martin: White caught four passes for 68 yards and a touchdown on offense. He registered five tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and picked off a pass on defense.
John Peterson, Vancleave: Peterson dominated in Vancleave’s 49-20 win over Greene County, rushing for 355 yards and six touchdowns.
Daniel Pickens, Resurrection: The athlete was all over the field in a 35-0 win over St. Patrick. He rushed for 140 yards and two touchdowns and picked off a pass on defense.
Marcus Washington, D’Iberville: Washington had two interceptions and a forced fumble, leading a defense that allowed only 186 yards.
Bray Hubbard, Ocean Springs: The senior amassed 315 total yards of offense and was responsible for three scores in the Greyhounds’ 31-13 win over Clinton.
Jeffery Rush, Pascagoula: Rush had four tackles for loss, three sacks, a rushing touchdown, blocked a punt and returned it for a touchdown.
Jaquez Alexander, Pass Christian: Alexander ran for 135 yards and four touchdowns in a 56-20 win over Long Beach.
