Congrats, champs! Resurrection wins 1A state baseball championship
The Eagles invaded Pearl this week seeking redemption and are heading back to Pascagoula with fresh hardware.
Resurrection defeated Biggersville in game two of the 1A baseball state championship series by a score of 4-0 to earn the school’s first ever state title.
The Eagles scored once in the second inning on a throwing error that scored Luke Schnoor, again in the fourth on a Connor Davis RBI single and then in the sixth from an RBI triple off Miller Kay’s bat.
JT Schnoor provided insurance in the seventh frame with an run-scoring double. The senior was named MVP of the series.
Joe Scarborough shut down the Lions on the mound and earned the most important win of the season.
Resurrection took game one in the series on Tuesday, 3-1. Schnoor pitched a complete game with five strikeouts in the opener.
Resurrection fought its way to the state championship series in 2021 only to be denied in two games. Now, one year later, the Eagles have earned their place in history.
It’s a storybook ending to a season that saw Resurrection win 33 games, including each of the last seven.
The starting lineup is dotted with five seniors who will end their high school careers on top of the high school baseball world in Mississippi.
Resurrection is the first South Mississippi baseball team to win a state title since Vancleave in 2018.
