It’s time to vote for Sun Herald’s MS Coast Athlete of the Week for May 16
This week’s athlete of the week poll features a softball player from East Central whose pitching performance helped secure the Hornets’ a spot in the state title game and a baseball player who drove in the winning runs for ECHS in game one against Vancleave.
Football stars are also back as spring games popped up around South Mississippi last week.

- Dylan Moran, Hancock football: Moran completed 12 of 13 passes for 208 yards and three touchdowns in the spring game against West Harrison and Stone.
- Hollis Porter, East Central baseball: Porter had two hits in game one of the South State title series, including the go-ahead knock in the sixth inning.
- Lauren Brooks, East Central softball: Brooks pitched 10 innings in game one of South State against George County, striking out 13 batters and allowing just two earned runs.
- Silas Corder, Pascagoula football: Corder completed 17 of 31 pass attempts for 233 yards and two scores against Vancleave and Fairhope in the spring game.
- Chasden Collins, Stone football: Collins caught three passes for for 68 yards and three touchdowns in the spring game segment against Hancock.
