It’s time to vote for Sun Herald’s MS Coast Athlete of the Week for May 2
The playoffs are heating up with South Mississippi baseball and softball talent getting deeper into the postseason.
This week’s nominees for Sun Herald’s Athlete of the Week are some of the top performers from the second weekend of playoff action.
This is not a scientific poll, and you can vote as many times as you’d like until voting ends at 5 p.m. Friday, May 6.
We have girls and boys athletes representing East Central, Vancleave, George County and Resurrection.

- Hunter Parker, Vancleave baseball: Parker logged six RBIs acoss two games in a second round sweep of Brookhaven.
- TJ Dunsford, East Central baseball: Dunsford had five hits and five RBIs in a two-game sweep of Long Beach in the second round.
- Gracie Magee, George County softball: Magee recorded five hits and four RBIs in a sweep over Pearl River Central.
- JT Schnoor, Resurrection baseball: Schnoor struck out 14 batters in six innings in game one against French Camp and then picked up two hits and two RBIs in game two.
- Lillie Evans, East Central softball: Evans had three hits, a home run and seven RBIs in the series against Picayune.
