Harrison Central hires a familiar face to lead football team. ‘He has a stellar record.’
Harrison Central football will be led by a familiar face on the gridiron this year.
The Harrison County School Board of Trustees voted to hire Red Rebel offensive coordinator and archery coach Tony Myers as HCHS’s newest head football coach.
Myers replaces Casey Cain, who retired after seven seasons.
“He has a stellar record and a stellar background as far his coaching resume is concerned,” Harrison County School District athletic director Averie Bush told the Sun Herald. “We talked to several people in our search and we just liked the overall combination of skill, attributes and experience he possesses.”
Before HCHS, Myers was the co-defensive coordinator and ninth grade football head coach at Oak Grove. His experience leading a team and coaching both sides of the ball helped land him his new role.
“To have that skill set on both sides of the ball that makes you almost ambidextrous,” Bush said. “Now you get to be flexible with putting your staff together.”
Myers is the second in-house coaching hire the County school board has approved in the last month following Josh Ladner’s hire at D’Iberville in March.
