Meet the Sun Herald Boys Soccer All-South Mississippi Team for the 2021-22 season

Long Beach and St. Stanislaus were once again the boys soccer champion representatives in South Mississippi and are awarded for it in this year’s All-South soccer team.

St. Stanislaus head coach Zach Villarubia has been selected as our coach of the year while Long Beach midfielder Vincenzo Jeanfreau is our Sun Herald Player of the Year.

Coach of the Year

Zach Villarubia, St. Stanislaus

St. Stanislaus successfully completed the three-peat when the Rock-a-Chaws defeated St. Andrews in the Class I championship game.

Villarubia’s team went 19-4-1 and did not allow a single goal in the final five matches of the season.

Player of the Year

Vincenzo Jeanfreau, Long Beach

Jeanfreau was the offensive centerpiece for a Long Beach team that made it two state title’s in a row this season.

Only a sophomore, Jeanfreau scored 12 goals and had 11 assists throughout the year. He left his mark all over the playoffs where he scored or assisted on five goals over the last three games, including assisting on two goals in the championship game.

Fan Choice Player of the Year

Stephen Johnson, Pearl River Central

Johnson beat out several top players and his own teammate Brant Tarter to take home the fan’s choice for Player of the Year honors.

He played a significant role in Pearl River Central’s defense and became one of the Coast’s top defenders after nearly opting out of the season.

Sun Herald All-South Mississippi team

  • Aiden Boudro, Bay - Coast all star, scored 14 goals and had six assists on the year.
  • Tanner Reinike, St. Stanislaus - Scored six goals while leading a defense that forced 12 shutouts.
  • Denim Lombard, Gulfport - Scored 11 goals while adding nine assists.
  • Noah Fayard, George County - Fayard was among the Coast’s best scorers with 21 goals and eight assists. Had three hat tricks on the year.
  • Thomas Biggs, St. Patrick - Senior and two-time Coast All Star game selection.
  • Bryton Dupuy, Bay - Centerback that led a defense that pitched 12 shutouts, scored two goals and added six assists.
  • Julian McCord, Harrison Central - Defensive Player of the Game in the Coast All Star game.
  • Dax Dodson, Gulfport - Coast All Star game selection as a defender.
  • Ethan Crump, Gulfport- Mississippi Association of Coaches all star goalkeeper, picked up 61 saves.
  • Luis Ramirez, D’Iberville - Coast All Star game selection, scored six goals despite battling injuries.
  • Christian Bourgeois, St. Stanislaus - Scored five goals, recorded three assists and named to the Coast All-Star team. Earned MVP honors in the state title game.
  • Brant Tarter, Pearl River Central - Scored 14 goals and had seven assists as a team captain.
  • Teryn Davis, Harrison Central - Coast all star with 14 goals and 12 assists on the year.
  • Dustin Landry, Ocean Springs - MAC and Coast All Star game selection as a senior captain defender. Scored three goals with three assists.
  • Mark Peaden, Ocean Springs - Junior captain with six goals and eight assists on the year.
