It’s time to vote for Sun Herald’s MS Coast Athlete of the Week

Baseball and softball are heating up along the Gulf Coast. Stars are shining and players are stepping in big moments with district play just around the corner.

This is not a scientific poll, and you can vote as many times as you’d like until voting ends at 3 p.m. Friday, March 18.

We have athletes representing Pascagoula, St. Stanislaus, Pearl River Central, East Central and Harrison Central in this week’s poll.

  • Francisco Solivan, Pascagoula baseball - Had three hits, two doubles, a home run and four RBIs in a 17-4 win over Moss Point
  • Kannon Varnado, Harrison Central baseball - Threw a complete game with 11 strikeouts while adding a double at the plate against D’Iberville.
  • Chesley Rhodes, St. Stanislaus baseball - Had two hits, one a double and one a home run, with four RBIs in a 14-0 win over Bay.
  • Jazmin Robertson, Pearl River Central softball - Had two hits, a home run and four RBIs. Also had four strikeouts on the mound against Pascagoula.
  • Bree Phillips, East Central softball - Went 4-4 at the plate with a double and two RBIs in a 12-2 win against Bay.
