It’s time to vote for Sun Herald’s MS Coast Athlete of the Week (Feb. 22)
The sports calendar is beginning to flip over as the spring semester rolls forward. Baseball and softball players have returned to the diamond, while South Mississippi basketball teams are still pushing toward Jackson in the playoffs.
It’s time for vote for the Sun Herald of the Week for Feb. 22. This is not a scientific poll, and you can vote as many times as you’d like until voting ends at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25.
We have athletes representing Moss Point, Stone, Vancleave, East Central and George County in this week’s poll.
- Gehrig Conard, Stone baseball: Conard was electric on opening day, striking out 11 against Biloxi and keeping a 0 on the scoreboard through five innings of work.
- Brody Howell, George Co. baseball: Howell pitched lights out against St. Martin, striking out 10 in six scoreless innings.
- TJ Dunsford, East Central baseball: Dunsford pitched 17 outs against Ocean Springs and got 14 of them via strikeout.
- Kaleb Raston, Moss Point baseball: In a blowout win over Blount (Al.), Raston hit two home runs, one a grand slam, and recorded six RBIs.
- Bryn Daughtry, Vancleave softball: Daughtry pitched a shutout against Pearl River Central with 10 strikeouts. She also picked up two hits at the plate, including one double.
- Kedrick Osby, Moss Point basketball: No stranger to the poll, Osby had a huge day in the playoffs against Lanier, scoring 35 points to propel the Tigers to the next round.
